Duke’s Mayo Career Fair will join Aggie Eagle Classic in September

The first-ever Duke’s Mayo Classic College & Career Fair will invite prospective students from across the region to the Charlotte Convention Center from 10:30-4:30 Sept. 2.

The Fair will provide students the opportunity to learn more about the importance of furthering their education and to explore and discover the exciting programs and experiences colleges and universities have to offer.

The Career Fair will be followed by the Duke’s Mayo Classic – Aggie Eagle Classic on Sept. 3 where North Carolina A&T State University and North Carolina Central University at Bank of America Stadium will vie for the title.

Winthrop Career Fair Scheduled Mar. 4

Winthrop University’s Center for Career Development and Internships will host its Spring 2022 Career and Graduate School Fair Mar. 4 from 1-4 pm in McBryde Hall.

The event will focus on full-time opportunities and internships, as well as graduate school programs.

Guilford College to Host Career Fair Feb. 23

Guided Discovery, Guilford College’s Integrated Advising Office, will be hosting an in-person Career Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 12-3pm in Founders Hall.

This Career Fair will include Full/Part-Time Employment, Internship Opportunities, Volunteer Positions, and Graduate School Programs.

Application Information Session Set for Faculty and Staff

Graduate School Admissions will host a virtual information session Feb. 10 at 12:30 on the graduate application process and answer questions of faculty and staff.

The Tuition Waiver program is available to employees who are in permanent positions and regularly scheduled to work 30 hours or more each week, 9 months of the year or longer. Tuition Waivers may be used to cover tuition expenses for up to three courses an academic year (spring, summer and fall semesters) at any of the 17 schools within the UNC system.

Application Data Download Available via Slate

The Graduate Slate team is glad to announce a new feature that will allow downloading a file of application data.   This file will contain common and useful data points for applications to which you have been granted access.  At the present time the file will contain all current 2022 applications.

The downloaded file will be in Excel format and will automatically have filtering controls enabled.

To access the download portal, simply log into the Slate Reader and it will be visible on the Home Tab under the ***NEW*** label.

ETS Session on Recruiting Diverse Students Available

The ETS session “Holistic Admissions: Recruiting and Admitting Diverse Students” is available on demand. 

The session features Carlos Grijalva, ETA Graduate Education Advisor and Emeritus Professor, Behavioral Neuroscience and Former Associate Dean at UCLA.

USC Upstate to Host Career Fair

USC Upstate has scheduled a career fair for Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Women’s Studies Mar. 4 from 11-1 p.m. in USC Upstate’s CLC Ballroom.

The event is free and will include light refreshments.

Information Session on Higher Ed Master’s and Doctoral Programs Planned for Faculty and Staff

Master’s and doctoral programs focusing on higher education will host virtual information sessions Jan. 27 @ 4 p.m. and Feb. 16 @ 12 p.m.

Eligible faculty and staff can use the tuition waiver benefit for courses. Part-time and full-time enrollment options are available; the final admissions application deadline for fall 2022 admission is Mar. 1.

National Conference on Undergraduate Research Coming in April

The 2022 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) will be held virtually in April via Zoom and include a variety of events, including a Graduate Fair meet-up. Programs may connect with NCUR student prospects Apr. 6 and 7 for three hours each day.

The fee for programs to participate is $475 and must be paid by Mar. 18.  Please contact Maryanne Marie-Sams if your program plans to participate in the event.

NEW DATE: NC-LSAMP SPRA Research Conference and Recruitment Fair Planned

The NC Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation STEM Pathways and Research Alliance (NC-LSAMP SPRA) Research Conference will be held April 1, 9-5, originally planned for Friday, Jan 28. The event includes a virtual recruitment fair from 10-11:30 a.m. 

Charlotte Admissions staff will participate in the event.

The primary focus is on the recruitment of graduate students but this is also an excellent opportunity to recruit students for summer REUs. 

There is no fee to register for the recruitment fair.

UNC Ashville NextFest Recruiting Event Feb. 8

UNC Ashville Career Center will host a recruiting fair Feb. 8, 12-2 p.m. which has a section dedicated to graduate schools.

UNCA students were recently ranked #2 in the country by the Princeton Review for students who “Make an Impact” and 65% participate in UNCA undergraduate research.

Urge Admitted Students to Attend Graduate School Information Session

Graduate Admissions will offer an information session Nov. 17 at Noon to help admitted students who are undecided about accepting their offer of admission.

Graduate School staff and current graduate students will share information to help admitted students make a decision to continue their education at Charlotte.  Graduate Admissions counselors will review the decision letter, connecting with the program, accepting admission, funding and more.

Germany to Hold Graduate Studies Recruitment Fair in November
EducationUSA will  host its first virtual Graduate Studies Fair for Germany on Tues., Nov. 23, 4-8 p.m. CET.  U.S. higher education institutions will have a virtual booth and host group and one-on-one sessions with Germany’s top students.  EducationUSA advisers will facilitate the event and share educational and funding opportunities.  For more information on how to participate, please contact germany@educationusa.org.

Portugal to Hold Recruitment Fair in November

Nationwide, Graduate Enrollment Projected to Grow less than 1% through 2029

Nationwide, graduate enrollment is projected to grow by less than 1% from 2021-2029.

The Education Advisory Board (EAB) compiled a downloadable white paper to help institutions better understand the future needs of adult learners and develop strategies to recruit, enroll and retain them. Charlotte’s graduate enrollment is projected to grow 20% over the next ten years, so the work to strategically serve this unique audience must begin now.
